Delicious Stir Fry with Potent Anti-Cancer Components
Nov 23, 2009 by Bill Rawls, M.D.
I bet you never knew that preventing cancer could be so delicious! Every ingredient in this recipe has a powerful anti-cancer component.
Shopping List:
Tofu—phyto-estrogens
Celery—contains apigenin, an important anti-cancer compound
Cabbage—cruciferous
Broccoli—cruciferous
Carrots—antioxidants
Onions—anti-cancer chemicals
Red bell pepper—antioxidants
Curry—contains turmeric, a potent anti-cancer substance
Black pepper—enhances absorption of turmeric and other beneficial chemicals
Sesame seeds—lignans
Ginger—related to turmeric, potent anti-cancer compounds
Garlic—reduces many diseases, including cancer
Olive oil and sesame oil—both healthy oils for cooking
Cooking Directions:
Prepare all ingredients beforehand and have ready. The key to a great stir fry is quick cooking without burning! Burning creates carcinogens, which defeats the purpose of an "anti cancer’ stir fry!
Heat a wok pan on high heat and add oil when pan begins to warm. Cook tofu first and set aside. Then cook onions, peppers, and garlic. When this begins to brown, add remaining ingredients and cook until desired softness is reached. (TIP— firm vegetables tend to retain more nutritional value) Add back in tofu and serve alone or over your favorite whole grain rice or pasta. Enjoy!
